ResearchOS is the platform behind GigaOm’s Radar reports. This page walks through the vendor experience in order — from signing up to licensing your finished report — so you always know what’s next and where to find it.
Our new Radar and ResearchOS process illuminates the value you bring to your prospects and informs your everyday business decisions, with true visibility along the way.

We evaluate you through the eyes of the three executives who sign off, so your value shows up framed for the buyers who actually decide.
| Buyer | What’s changed | See how you benefit |
|---|---|---|
| CTOGreen Money | Innovation now scores as its own lens, weighted equally against efficiency and risk instead of sitting inside one blended score. | Point to a specific quadrant and an independent Velocity label as third-party evidence you’re ahead — not just your own roadmap slide. |
| CIOBrown Money | Efficiency and total cost of ownership are isolated into their own lens, so cost impact stops hiding inside a generic “ease of use” rating. | Bring a documented, scored TCO rationale into the business case instead of building one from scratch. |
| CISOGRCS | Risk and compliance get a dedicated, equally-weighted lens, backed by two structured fact-check rounds before anything is scored. | Walk into security review with a defensible, evidence-backed risk position, not a vendor self-attestation. |
THE FOUR QUADRANTS
A Radar quadrant reflects how your whole organization thinks about a purchase — CIO, CTO, and CISO alike. All three can point to the exact same quadrant, and each still walks away with a different, board-ready reason to invest.
Foundation Builders
Stable, reliable, operationally focused solutions that prioritize predictability and continuity over innovation, for buyers who want proven, low-risk technology.
Agile Optimizers
Operationally focused solutions improving through incremental iteration, for buyers who want compounding gains on workflows that already work.
Enduring Innovators
Long-horizon strategic bets whose value compounds over years, not quarters, for buyers who accept a longer time-to-value for transformational outcomes.
Disruptive Pioneers
Leading-edge technology and fast-moving roadmaps that reshape what a category means, for buyers who accept elevated risk for capabilities not available elsewhere.
Seven stages, in the order you’ll actually hit them as a participating vendor. Jump to any stage, or read straight through.
There’s no password to create. Enter your work email and you’ll get a one-time sign-in link — that’s it. As you type your company name, ResearchOS checks whether it already knows your company, so you’re routed the right way automatically.
This is the first thing you see after signing in — your action center. It pulls together everything outstanding across every Radar you’re part of, so nothing gets missed because a deadline was buried in an email.
Opening one of your Radars is where you do the actual work for that piece of research: see the timeline, answer questionnaires, and talk to the analyst running it.
Before scoring even starts, GigaOm checks whether your product clears the minimum bar for the market — these baseline checks are called criteria (also referred to as “primitives”). This page shows every check, whether you passed, and how confident the assessment is.
The bar rises as the Radar nears publication — a borderline pass early on may need stronger evidence to still hold by Final.
Once scoring is underway, you can see exactly how you scored — not just the headline numbers, but the reasoning behind each one.
Before anything publishes, you get two structured rounds to review GigaOm’s findings and push back with evidence on anything you believe is wrong.
| Round | Focus | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Round 1 | Criterion-by-criterion, grouped by budget bucket. Each criterion carries a red/yellow/green indicator and your overall position tier. | Open a dispute thread with Deanna on any criterion (message limits and a deadline apply) and see her recommendation. Request exclusion if needed. |
| Round 2 | Near-final review across three tabs: Scores & Criteria, Report Preview, and My Capsule. | A changelog banner shows what changed since Round 1. Dispute a criterion, flag a report section, or dispute your capsule content. |
Round 2 refreshes automatically every 30 seconds while it’s open, so you always see the latest state.
Once research wraps, the relationship doesn’t end — GigaOm turns the research into additional products you can license, and gives you a place to keep your own evidence on file.
A few things that come up outside the day-to-day flow above.
The vocabulary GigaOm uses to score every Radar — so you know exactly what a criterion, quadrant, or label means for your product.
The three C-suite buyer personas — CTO, CIO, and CISO — GigaOm uses as the evaluative lens for every Radar. Every scoring criterion maps to one of these three roles; no other role (CFO, COO, procurement, etc.) enters the scoring framework.
The CTO’s budget bucket. Asks whether a solution creates new capability, competitive advantage, or accelerates digital transformation. Weight: 30% of the base share.
The CIO’s budget bucket. Asks whether a solution reduces operational burden, improves reliability, or lowers total cost of ownership. Weight: 30% of the base share.
The CISO’s budget bucket — Governance, Risk, Compliance, Security. Asks whether a solution reduces risk, meets compliance requirements, or improves security posture. Weight: 30% of the base share.
Forward-looking capability that spans all three buyer personas rather than belonging to one. It is scored in its own bucket, which informs your velocity label rather than your position score.
The binary pass/fail requirements a product must clear to be included in a Radar at all — separate from, and evaluated before, the scored criteria. Missing one can mean exclusion, with an appeal path. See Step 4.

The highest Velocity label. Awarded to vendors investing materially and actively shaping the direction of the market (roughly 20–30% of vendors).
The middle Velocity label. Awarded to vendors keeping pace with market leaders and closing capability gaps (roughly 40–50% of vendors).
The baseline Velocity label. Awarded to vendors present in the market but not the primary locus of innovation.
ResearchOS exists so that doesn’t happen. Your input is a structured, timed, evidence-based part of the process — not an afterthought.
And once the research exists, it doesn’t just sit in a published report. It becomes a set of assets you can license and use across your own sales and product teams.
Once you’re signed in, every page above links back to a searchable Help Center built for exactly this — no need to email an analyst for something you can look up yourself.
Vendors who understand their score close gaps faster.
