Across more than thirty years of reporting on, building, and investing in technology, Om grew a blog he started by himself into one of the most influential technology publications and research firms of its time. GigaOm was among the first to treat the business of technology as a beat worthy of serious, human attention. He wrote, as he put it, “like a humanˮ: with authenticity, compassion, and a gift for showing where technology meets people’s actual lives.

Few of us at GigaOm today had the chance to work alongside Om. The company has changed hands, names, and business models in the years since he stepped away. But his fingerprints are still on the thing we value most about this place; a genuine curiosity about where technology is headed and what it means for the rest of us. We’re grateful for what he started and for the example he set: generous, plainspoken, and deeply human to the end. Our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the many writers and founders
he championed along the way.
