  • TripAdvisor’s upgraded iOS app now includes machine learning to deliver custom recommendations based on user preferences shared over time. Additional new features include overall improvements to the TripAdvisor experience, trip collaboration, 360-degree photos and more. Read more.
  • Partnership on AI recently announced 22 new organizations will be joining their effort to build a diverse, balanced, and global set of perspectives on AI. For-profit companies joining the effort include eBay, Intel, Salesforce, SAP, and Sony; while notable non-profits include Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence, Center for Democracy & Technology, The Future of Humanity Institute, UNICEF, and the XPRIZE Foundation.   • Delivering opening remarks at Artificial Intelligence for Good Global Summit in Geneva, Switzerland, Dr. Margaret Chan, addressed the power of intelligent machines to revolutionize healthcare. During her address, she encouraged discourse on public policies and ethical dilemmas presented by advancing AI. She explained, “Much of the enthusiasm for the use of smart machines to improve health care reflects the perspectives of wealthy countries and well-resourced private companies.   • Florida Hospital Nicholson Center called on Virtual Heroes, a collaborative interactive learning company, to help develop a 3D virtual operating theater. The 3-D virtual game, named FRS Virtual Team, is designed to enable surgeons to practice critical teamwork and communication skills needed for robotic surgery.
