Upcoming Gigaom Event: From drought to crime: Structure Data applies big data to current issues

Om panel Structure Data 2014

In the last two years, the big data industry has seen significant growth not only in infrastructure but in the development of intelligent data applications. Data products are being built on robust platforms with algorithms doing truly remarkable things. And for industries where data is desperately needed such as agriculture and health data science, these transformative applications are becoming critical to everyday life.

Last year at Structure Data, we heard from a wide spectrum of big data experts: McLaren Applied Technologies talked Formula 1 cars, professional cycling and state-of-the-art data centers. Romana Pierson, Co-founder and CEO of Declara, shared her story of needing to re-learn speech and motion from an accident influenced the start of Declara, a platform that personalizes the learning experience for adults. We dabbled in artificial intelligence, sitting down with Expect Labs and Swiftkey to discuss natural language processing and adaptive interfaces.

Structure Data 2015 delivers the same high standard of conversation around what’s next in the realm of big data. The University of Chicago Crime Lab will discuss how they’re using big data to understand social conditions and what drives human behavior in the hopes to change policy for more protective measures in high-crime areas.

The worst drought in California’s history will continue to have widespread effect on the rest of the nation. CEO of Hampton Creek and his team of all-star data scientists are investigating ways to reduce our overall environmental impact with naturally-occurring ingredient substitutes.

And with the Ebola outbreak that took the world by storm in 2014 to the recent measles outbreak sparking a deeper discussion into vaccinations, we have Harvard Medical School and Enlitic to discuss patient care and diagnosing disease from scores of data.

Structure Data will be as educational and inspirational as it was in 2014. Experience it firsthand – register now.
