Facebook video chat is plug-in free on Chrome, Chrome OS

Facebook - generic

Got a Chromebook and want to have a video chat with a Facebook friend? You don’t need to download or install any plug-ins, now that Facebook video supports WebRTC. Instead, you can just allow computer access to your camera and microphone to start chatting away. That’s particularly helpful on Chrome OS devices such as Chromebooks and Chromeboxes, but it’s also useful on any computer with Google Chrome installed.

We discuss this news and also debate on if now is a good time to buy a new Chromebook on our Chrome Show podcast. Tune in below to hear the entire show or download the audio file here.

Update: This post title was updated at 7:41am PT to correct an inadvertent error; originally, the title said Facetime, not Facebook.
