Microsoft has talked of unifying Windows across devices for some time and will likely take the next step later this month at a January 21 event. We’ll be there and The Verge says we can expect to see Windows 10 previewed for handsets on stage with the potential for users to demo soon thereafter as Microsoft combines the Windows RT and Windows Phone platforms. Microsoft’s Phone Insider app appears poised to be the entry point to sign up for and provide software updates for Windows 10 testing on phones. While the software will likely be used for phones and tablets, I’ll go out on a limb and suggest we’ll see it on low-cost computers to further escalate Microsoft’s war on Chromebooks.
