Tapping into an existing fan base seems like a pretty smart move for Crunchyroll — and it could potentially also be a blueprint to bring niche video programming to other fan communities. Crunchyroll was acquired by the [company]Chernin Group[/company] late last year, and has since become a key part of [company]Otter Media[/company], the joint venture between the Chernin Group and [company]AT&T[/company] that’s all about niche programming. AT&T and the Chernin Group have earmarked $500 million for Otter Media, which should leave some cash for Crunchyroll to expand into additional niche markets soon.
