Blockchain raises largest bitcoin funding round to-date with a $30.5M Series A

Bitcoin traders may be crowding the exits, but it appears that bitcoin investors are not. Wallet and software provider Blockchain announced late Monday night that it raised a $30.5 million Series A funding round — the largest on record for a single round in the bitcoin space, beating BitPay’s May announcement of its $30 million series A round. Blockchain now has 2.3 million registered bitcoin wallets and also runs the popular Blockchain.info site along with managing bitcoin.com. The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Wicklow Capital, and also included Sir Richard Branson, Mosaic Ventures and Prudence Holdings.
