Looks like there’s a new touchscreen Chromebook powered by Nvidia’s Tegra K1

Acer Chromebook 13 keyboard

Acer was the first to use Nvidia’s Tegra K1 chip in a Chromebook and it appears to be adding a new touchscreen option to the laptop. The Acer Chromebook I reviewed last month didn’t have the touch capabilities but my Chromebook Pixel does; the ability to tap around on websites can be handy.

For now, it appears the touch-capable Chromebook is only offered in the U.K. Given how Acer has built a solid following with a wide variety of Chromebook options, I wouldn’t be surprised to see broader availability. It’s also interesting that Acer is targeting the U.K., when Samsung has recently ceased its Chromebook sales in Europe.

We discuss the new touch Chromebook on this week’s podcast, along with more information on how to easily run Android apps on Chrome OS devices and the latest low-cost Windows computers hitting the market to do battle with Chromebooks. Tune in below or download this week’s podcast here.
