What if you never had to touch a light switch again? That’s the promise behind the Alba light, a connected white light bulb that contains an array of sensors and learning algorithms. The bulb responds to motion, presence and ambient light to dim and change the quality of light in response to your habits and needs. Like Nest tries to learn how you like your home’s temperature, the Alba light tries to learn how you like your illumination.
The second half of the show is dedicated to my conversation with Stack Lighting Co-founder and CEO Neil Joseph, but the first half covers Kevin Tofel and I talking about putting new sensors in phones to work with the smart home, my quick thoughts on the upcoming home hub and remote system from Logitech and how Kevin like using Health Kit. I also finally fell in love with my Nest thermostat after going out of town for a week. Some of these connected devices are clearly meant for a different type of consumer.
