Longtime Android hacker Koushik “Koush” Dutta is expanding his horizon — and bringing one of his latest apps to iOS. Dutta announced Wednesday that he intends to launch the multiscreen personal media sharing app AllCast on iOS as early as next month.
In a Google+ post, Dutta previewed two screenshots of the iOS version of AllCast, explaining in the comments that the app is specifically being built for iOS 8:
[blockquote person=”” attribution=””]We’re actually using a bunch of the new iOS8 APIs. They finally added the Android equivalent of the “Share” intent! Can cast from other apps on iOS to AllCast.[/blockquote]
AllCast originally launched a year ago as the first Android app capable of casting personal media to a Chromecast device. Dutta has since greatly expanded the functionality of the app, which now also supports casting media to Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Xbox 360 and Xbox One and a bunch of additional DLNA-based media players and smart TVs.
