In the software-defined enterprise, there is no place for traditional approaches to systems and technology. To gain efficiencies and respond to new opportunities and threats, organizations are developing their own applications to quickly digitize their information and processes, adapting them as business needs change.

These organizations have watched content evolve from static, structured documents (paper or digital) to a structured format that enables content to be taken apart and put back together in different ways based on business requirements (we call this active content). This new view of content is a competitive differentiator — if used right.

Content drives innovation when it’s created and managed as a living asset, delivered to the right person, at the right time, in the right context. This happens when it’s made available across the organization and within the business applications employees use every day.

The software-defined enterprise understands traditional models of enterprise content management can’t support the flexible workflows and content models required for this new approach to content. Where files and Word documents restrict the view of information, structured, form-based content models enable it to be easily ingested and delivered in new and innovative ways through content-centric business applications.

At a time when software innovation is creating disruption across verticals, if you’re in B2B and you’re not a software company, if you’re not looking at content outside the context of a file, you can be sure that your competition is.

Visit Nuxeo to learn how the software-defined enterprise is building today’s content-centric business applications.
