Do you still struggle with finding the best way to backup VMs? Here are three myths for VM data protection today and why there are better ways to back up:
- Agentless backups can’t do it all. Not true! The fact is that you truly can have an agentless backup that keeps everyone happy: application consistency, log truncation and granular recovery. Free tools like Veeam Explorer for Exchange and SharePoint are great examples of this. The key to success is leveraging a framework, such as VSS, that allows all of this to be accomplished. It can be done with an agentless backup!
- We can’t restore quickly enough. With the right solution, you actually can restore a VM in just two minutes. So if you delete a VM or have a SAN failure, recovery can be just as quick as you provision a VM, maybe faster. How so? It comes down to the right backup product and backup storage that can meet the needs of your business. See what Tim has to say.
- Replicated VMs don’t help my DR strategy. A replicated VM may actually be just what you need! Replicated VMs may be just the tool for delivering the best RTOs off-site or to different storage resources, but you still need a backup!
Why is this important? It’s critical to have the VMs you need ready to go. Either restore them from backups or fail over off-site. You can carve up many options today, even with replicas.
