Samsung announces which devices get Android 4.4.2, starting today

Got an older Samsung smartphone or tablet? You still might get Android(s goog) KitKat 4.4.2 according to the company, which announced a full list of devices that will see the software update beginning today. Some are nearly two years old, which is surprising as many devices 18 months old or more typically don’t receive updates. Here’s the full list for the U.S. market: Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 zoom, Galaxy S III, Galaxy S III mini, Galaxy Mega, Galaxy Light, Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Tab 3, Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition.

Is there any chance that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 getting 4.4.2 software?

I managed to put CM11 on my GT2 7″ (but the extsdcard is reported as blank and I suspect IR blaster does not work. Other than that, pretty sweet….)

what should I do with my galaxy tab 8.9–running an ICS 4.0.??–I like the form factor and its does most of what I want–does this eventually become ewatse!!!

Is there a list somewhere saying when various carriers are rolling out the update? I have an S4 on Cricket but I can never find out any update information for Cricket and when I ask them directly, they say they don’t know anything about if or when the phone will get an update (that was the case with 4.3 anyway).

Unfortunately, it’s up to Cricket to share that information as it should be pushing the updates out unless the company has a special arrangement from Samsung to allow Samsung to send out the software.
