Earlier this week, we saw alleged screenshots of the Google Play app store running on a BlackBerry 10 handset. That brought hope to current BlackBerry owners, with the potential for hundreds of thousands of new apps. Unfortunately, it’s not happening. Speaking to CNet on Tuesday, a BlackBerry representative dismissed the rumor, saying the company had no plans to support Google Play on its devices. That’s too bad. It would have been nice to see Google Play support on BlackBerry phones; they do have a runtime environment that can use Android apps, but the process to install such apps right now is cumbersome.
