Good new for anyone that loves HTC’s hardware, but doesn’t care much for the BlinkFeed home screen it introduced in Sense 5.0: It looks like HTC is planning to introduce a simple way to turn it on and off. Android Revolution HD got its hands on some alleged screenshots from HTC Sense 5.5, and if these images are real, you can expect to see some new camera features as well as a simple toggle switch for BlinkFeed.
Previously, in order to disable BlinkFeed you’d have to dip into your phone’s settings and change your default home screen. Or you could download and install an application launcher from Google Play, but neither of these options are ideal. In Sense 5.5 it looks like there is a setting where you can simply switch it on and off (seen in the top left of the screens above), and add new categories or customized topic tabs while you’re at it.
Another nice change comes to the camera, in the form of Panorama+ and Dual Capture modes. It isn’t quite clear what either of these new shooting modes do, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Dual Capture fires off the front and rear cameras at the same time, like Samsung’s Dual Shot mode.
Aside from these changes, the task switcher now shows bigger preview windows, and it looks like there are a number of new emoji icons in the keyboard. Otherwise this version of Sense looks fairly similar to other recent releases.
With HTC expected to launch the One Max next week, it’s possible we’ll be seeing an official debut for HTC Sense 5.5 as well.
