Nokia is looking to go big with its next smartphone, the Lumia 1520. And if the leaked image below, published by Windows Phone Central, is any indication, Nokia is looking to go really big. Pictured next to the Lumia 1020, the alleged 6-inch Lumia 1520 looks huge.
WP Central has been unable to verify the source of the photo, but there are some clues that it might be the real deal. If you look closely at the very bottom of the phone, right above the red frame, you’ll see the proto.nokia.com etching that can be found on all Nokia test phones. Additionally, there are three columns of Live Tiles, which is expected to come with the next update to Windows Phone for 1080p displays.
So if this image is indeed real, you can expect the Lumia 1520 (codenamed Bandit) to feel more like a tablet with the ability to make calls than just a very large smartphone. And judging by the picture, it looks like Nokia will offer a protective folio case for the device.
In addition to a 6-inch, 1080p screen, the Lumia 1520 is expected to feature a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, as well as a 20-megapixel camera.
Nokia has not been doing a great job of keeping new devices under wraps, as images of it potential Windows RT tablet surfaced earlier this week. Of course, both of these images could be false. Nokia is reportedly holding a launch event in New York next month, so we’ll probably find out soon enough.
