Twitter was down again for more than 40 minutes on Thursday morning although as of 7:58 a.m. PDT it appears to be functioning again.
Some online speculated that this is a broader problem, citing issues with the AirBnb and FourSquare sites, but there is no further information on that. The Amazon Web Services status page, which is a go-to site when issues occur, shows no problems as of 8 a.m. PDT Thursday. Then again, Twitter doesn’t run on AWS, so there’s that. Earlier in the morning sites like downforeveryoneorjustme confirmed that Twitter was down for the count. There have been a couple Twitter snafus in recent weeks, including on Inauguration Day.
Some users are still reporting that Twitter is unavailable as of 8:05 a.m. PDT. The Twitter API page still shows issues with the site.
Uh oh, things seem to be going down hill, as more Twitter API problems surface with search and timelines etc.
Updated: Now Twitter says all issues are resolved. According to the latest post to the status page Twitter said:
“We experienced intermittent issues affecting web and mobile users, globally, between approximately 7:00am and 9:50am PST. This incident has now been resolved. We apologize to users who were affected by this, and we’re working to ensure that similar issues do not occur.”
This story was updated at 8:05 a.m. PDT with additional information about the Twitter API status; at 8:25 a.m. PDT with more recent information on Twitter API status and again at 11:18 a.m. PDT with information on problem resolution.
