Hulu Plus gets Raw, signs exclusive deal with WWE

Hulu Plus subscribers, get read for a smackdown: The WWE’s TV content is coming exclusively to Hulu Plus, where subscribers are going to have access to popular formats like Raw and SmackDown the day after they air on TV. The service will also stream WWE En Español to add more content for its Spanish-language audience.

Variety has more on the deal, including the somewhat telling revelation that these shows aren’t actually all that new to Hulu: WWE has been making some of its content available through Hulu and other websites for free in the past, with shows often appearing three days after their original TV air date. But as the WWE is looking to make more money online, Hulu Plus is now getting exclusive access – and WWE fans looking for an online fix will have to start to pay up.

Hulu did have some WWE on its free service but that didn’t include the flagship show Raw. Raw only had clips shown on Hulu. As a wrestling fan and cord cutter this was an announcement I have been anticipating.

Sorry, but NOT paying HULU for that content when I can get it on Cable TV and a DVR! FAIL!

Well Carol, Hulu is for people who want to cut the cable and are solely getting TV through internet… The target market is totally different here… and I think Hulu Plus and Netflix do a good job in that regards…
