Founded in 1895, Hakuhodu is Japan’s oldest, and one of its largest, advertising agencies. It practices a philosophy it calls sei-katsu-sha — or reconigtion of the “living person” — a way of understanding marketing targets holistically. It uses a tool called Vision-Graphics to visualize consumers’ marketing journeys from discovery to purchase.

Key Move

Hakuhodu consolidated search engine marketing agency IREP, implemented a digital training programme for its staff and established a social media marketing center and smart devices business center.

Our Methodology

In its 2011 annual report, Hakuhodu disclosed billings for internet media across its divisions were JPY 56,269,000,000 or 6.5% of total billings.
