Today in Cloud

I’ll be at Structure later this week and am looking forward to hearing from all the movers and shakers in the cloud computing market. At least two sessions will tackle the topic of cloud lock-in and the emerging battle over cloud APIs. Marten Mickos, CEO of Eucalyptus, Chris Kemp, CEO of Nebula and Sameer Dakola, VP and GM of the cloud platform group at Citrix will be on stage together in an “API Wars” shoot out. Lew Moorman, president of Rackspace, has his own slot on this topic as well.
I’m curious to hear what Werner Vogels, CTO and VP of Amazon has to say this year in conversation with Om Malik. He’s planning on talking about the ecosystem around AWS, which can be a source of tension for startups that build apps on top of AWS, as the cloud giant gradually moves up the stack itself and offers similar services.
Security pros Simon Crosby and Chris Hoff will be on stage discussing the future of security technologies and best practices in cloud. And I get to interview Debra Chrapaty, CIO of Zynga on what she needs from the public and private cloud to deliver high performance to millions of gamers, 24/7. This is just a snapshot of the line up. Come and check out the conference if you want to learn more about this fast moving market and hope to meet you there.
