UPDATED: The jury finally reached a verdict in the Google/Oracle patent case, determining that Android does not violate any of eight claims across two separate patents. As my colleague Jeff John Roberts explains here, the decision is a major blow for Oracle but not its final strike: A U.S. district judge must still rule on the issue of fair use, which is a legal doctrine pertaining to copyrighted material, and there’s always the possibility that Oracle could appeal the case. But that latter scenario may not be likely given the fact that the jury foreman said the decision wasn’t even close.
