Flaregames of Karlsruhe, Germany, is taking €6 million, led by Angry Bird backer Accel, to “scale” the company, hire new talent and to to market its upcoming series of free-to-play mobile games.
“Our first focus is on getting fun, high-quality games to market, and reaching the mass-market as well as mid-core gamers with our line-up this year,” said founder Klaas Kersting (via release).
“The mobile games business will likely be larger than the social games business,” according to Accel partner Harry Nelis. The firm is planning five games by year’s end.
