The Indie Fund is open to all startups, provided they have raised under $100,000 in funding. Funders, ranging from friends and family to far-flung strangers, contribute to companies with as little as a dollar; en lieu of equity, they receive a number of perks, from T-shirts to beta accounts to exclusive party invitations.
Top performers from the fund, which runs quarterly, receive extensive promotion through the networks of Beta Ltd. and IndieGoGo and will in addition receive opportunities to demo, for free, at Beta events in San Francisco, Boston, New York and beyond.
“With the Indie Fund, fundraising is the new marketing,” says Christian Perry, the executive producer of Beta Ltd. “Startups now have a zero-cost, high-profile method to raise money at the earliest stages of development, when capital is at its scarcest.”
The Indie Fund builds on the strength of both companies behind it, combing Beta Ltd.’s global network of early-stage founders with IndieGoGo’s revolutionary crowdfunding technology. Eligible startups can join by creating a campaign on IndieGoGo and submitting it through Beta Ltd.’s Indie Fund page.
