Midemlab is a startups and app developers competition focused on the best digital innovations. Previous editions proved to be a real launch platform for many leading music startups — such as SoundCloud, The Echo Nest, Songkick, Next Big Sound or Root Music.
This year, midemlab widens its scope to players proposing solutions not necessarily music oriented in three categories: music discovery and creation; marketing and social engagement; direct to consumer sales and monetizing content.
Thirty finalists will be selected through a call for entry by Balderton Capital, one of Europe’s leading venture capital firms; bluenove, a French consultancy specialized in open innovation; and Music Ally, the UK digital consulting company.
Finalists will pitch their business model at midem to successful tech entrepreneurs (founders of MOG, Mxp4), representatives from leading investment firms (Mangrove Capital Partners, H-Farm), senior executives in the entertainment industry (from Coca-Cola, Facebook, Sony Music), influential digital media (GigaOM, Evolver.fm) and winners from previous editions.
They will also benefit from personalized coaching sessions run by Microsoft BizSpark and numerous networking opportunities.
Held in Cannes (France), from Jan. 28 to 31, 2012, midem is the largest B2B event for senior executives from the music industry, cutting-edge technologies, brands and artists.
