Apple Lashes Out At HTC With Another ITC Complaint

HTC and Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) will have another matter to debate before the International Trade Commission now that Apple has filed another complaint over HTC’s mobile products. The new complaint hasn’t been made public yet, but is likely similar to a pending case involving the iPhone and HTC’s Android phones.

Bloomberg spotted a notice regarding the filing, which contained almost no information about the claims made on behalf of Apple before the ITC other than the fact it concerns “portable electronic devices and related software.” Florian Mueller at FOSS Patents speculates that Apple is hedging its bets when it comes to the current case it has pending against HTC before the ITC by filing another complaint using different, preseumably stronger patents.

Apple and HTC have been squabbling over each other’s designs for over a year, part of a much larger mobile-industry spat over the patents (of lack thereof) held by Google (NSDQ: GOOG) and its Android partners over mobile technology. HTC was one of the first companies to sign a licensing deal with Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) over similar matters, but has yet to settle its differences with Apple.
