Spotify’s global head of business development, Faisal Galaria, has left the music startup, which is now creeping closer to breaking out of Europe.
Galaria had set international expansion as Spotify’s top priority, ahead of near-term profitability.
We don’t know Galaria’s next move yet. Spotify doesn’t yet have word on any replacement but did say: “We thank him for his contribution here and wish him the very best for the future.”
Now some things look like falling in to place for Spotify. After two years of trying in the U.S., it’s understood it has been licensed by three of the four major labels, now that it’s limited free listening time.
Other deals completed recently include one to integrate Spotify more closely in Facebook, embedding of similar links inside Shazam.
Galaria joined in August 2009, before which he was international managing director for travel search site Kayak. He was a director for Skype in Europe.
