Comcast’s Schiller Shifts To Run Digital Ad Sales At NBCU Networks Division

Comcast (NSDQ: CMCSA) is moving its Digital Entertainment ad sales head Scott Schiller to the newly created role of EVP, digital media sales for the NBCUniversal Entertainment & Digital Networks and Integrated Media (E&DN/IM) division. The post has Schiller running ad sales for Fandango, iVillage, DailyCandy, Swirl and Television Without Pity.

Schiller will report to Dave Cassaro, NBCU’s president of Cable Entertainment & Digital Advertising Sales, and Nick Lehman, President of Digital for E&DN/IM.

One of the co-founders and first vice chair of the Internet Advertising Bureau, Schiller was also the original chief revenue officer of Glam Media. A 25 year ad vet, Schiller has also held executive posts at Disney (NYSE: DIS), AOL (NYSE: AOL), Sony (NYSE: SNE) and MTV Networks.

The new role is not that different from the one he held at Comcast. Though in many ways, it’s a lot bigger, as it encompasses oversight of the Comcast brands he’s already managed. In all, Schiller will be responsible for developing an overarching sales strategy across web, mobile and new media platforms. He’ll also be working with Peter Naylor, EVP of Digital Media Sales for NBCUniversal’s television-branded online properties. The nature of the job entails finding ways to collaborate on sales across both Comcast’s and NBCU’s content. Schiller will also work in partnership with cable television sales to drive business throughout E&DN/IM – and seek additional areas for partnership across the entire NBCUniversal portfolio, as well as Comcast.net/Xfinity.

The move comes amid a number of high-profile changes on the NBCU side following the January merger with Comcast. Last week, legendary NBCU exec Dick Ebersol was out and replaced by Mark Lazarus, the Turner Sports exec who advised Comcast during the merger and was brought on by NBCU CEO Steve Burke as president of NBC Sports Cable Group when the deal went through.

In March, NBCU’s Entertainment & Digital Networks and Integrated Media division went through a flurry of executive promotions and new additions. Network stalwarts Cameron Blanchard, Tony Cardinale and Margaret Lazo were all promoted to EVP of the division reporting to Chairman Lauren Zalaznick. That same month, the aforementioned Nicholas Lehman, formerly CEO of lifestyle network Plum TV was hired as president of the division.
