We can’t get enough of companies using smart algorithms and data management to make the power grid run more smoothly and to promote energy efficiency. Viridity Energy is a great example, and the company is using big data tools — from energy pricing to energy demand and supply — to create a new avenue for demand response, or basically when utilities connect with building owners to turn down a building’s energy consumption. Viridity Energy sells the software to building owners and has managed to raise funds from Intel Capital and Braemar Energy.
