Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) has hired former Tribune Interactive EVP Robertson Barrett to oversee its news and finance properties. Barrett is the company’s second high-profile media hire in a week; last Monday, Yahoo announced that Huffington Post Media Group (NYSE: AOL) managing editor Jai Singh was joining the company as editor in chief of the Yahoo Media Network.
Barrett is joining Yahoo from Perfect Market, where he had been chief strategy officer for just over a year. He had previously been at Tribune Interactive, where he had managed the operations and strategic development of all of the company’s online properties.
At Yahoo, he will report to Mickie Rosen, who was appointed SVP of the Yahoo Media Network in early January. Rosen has been shuffling the top management of many of the company’s media properties. In addition to Singh, she hired Time (NYSE: TWX) Inc.’s Ken Fuchs to run the company’s sports, games and entertainment sites in March. Former Yahoo News head Mark Walker departed to join Disney (NYSE: DIS) in mid-March.
