Groupon has hired Margo Georgiadis, a VP of global sales operations at Google (NSDQ: GOOG), as its new COO, according to multiple reports. At Google, Georgiadis was responsible for “driving Google’s sales operations and strategies across regions, channels and products as well as leading the sales technology teams which enable the successful commercialization of Google’s products,” according to her LinkedIn profile. She was the company’s highest-ranking executive in Groupon’s hometown of Chicago, according to this Chicago Business write-up.
At Groupon, Georgiadis is replacing Rob Solomon, who stepped down as president and COO a month ago. We’ve asked Groupon for confirmation about Georgiadis’ hiring and will update if we get it.
