Ex-Rubicon Exec Raj Chauhan To Head Up OpenX Publisher Business

RAJ CHAUHAN

Display ad tech firm OpenX is looking to build up its publisher services business and has tapped former Rubicon Project executive Raj Chauhan to manage it.

As General Manager of the company’s publisher business, a newly created role, Chauhan will essentially head sales efforts for new OpenX ad technology products designed to deliver better display prices for publishers, including the breakthrough OpenX Enterprise (Enterprise) revenue serving platform, and the recently launched OpenX Market ad exchange platform.

At Rubicon, Chauhan held three different roles, including business and corporate development, where he worked on Rubicon’s first acquisition, the purchase of Others Online in Sept. ’09. He probably won’t be leading any acquisition activity at OpenX, at least not in a direct way. “I’m in a fortunate position, OpenX has a lot of runway, and I’ll probably be wearing different hats, so it’s conceivable that I might have a role in assisting in what to buy or build,” Chauhan said. “But my main role is helping to grow the OpenX Enterprise product and related services.”

Chauhan spent his last eight months at Rubicon working on the demand side of the business. He left the Los Angeles-based company after Rubicon hired former Strongmail exec Bill McHargue as VP Sales, North America at the end of December 2010.
