Industry Moves: Verizon; Jumptap; Appia

Verizon: Lowell McAdam is the latest addition to the operator’s board of directors. He has been the COO of Verizon since last October and was previously the CEO of Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ), which Verizon controls jointly with Vodafone (NYSE: VOD). (release)

Jumptap: The mobile advertising network Jumptap has named Jared Hand as its new VP of sales. He joins from Gorilla Nation, where he was VP of sales. He has also been VP of sales for Clear Channel (OTCBB: CCMO), where he started and ran the sales team for Clear Channels online music and radio division (which recently purchased Thumbplay to expand that offering). Hand will report to Todd Anderman, Jumptap’s chief revenue and media officer. (via email)

Appia: The white-label app storefront Appia — backed by Eric Schmidt’s Tomorrow Ventures, among others — has added three new VPs of business development. Juan Carlos Belair will oversee Latin America; Sid Mahajan heads up biz dev in Asia Pacific; and Neil Geary will oversee sales in EMEA. All three report to Ken Hayes, SVP of business development. The company launched a developer portal last month to drive up more interest in its platform; it currently has 140,000 paid and free apps in its catalog, covering all major mobile platforms except for Apple’s iOS.
