Zynga is purchasing game developer Area/Code, which developed popular Facebook game CSI:Crime City, along with Ubisoft, and iPhone game Drop7, among other titles. Zynga says the New York City-based company will now become Zynga New York. That’s a strategy the company has used repeatedly over the last year; most of its nine studios have been set up via acquisitions. This is Zynga’s second acquisition of 2011. Earlier this month, it bought up browser developer Flock in a move to beef up its workforce.
