WPP’s MediaCom NA Promotes Digital Head Goldhersz To CEO

Harvey Goldhersz, CEO, WPP's Mediacom

In yet another sign of how crucial it is for media buying agencies to have a tight digital focus, Harvey Goldhersz, a veteran of WPP Group’s MediaCom who oversaw the company’s interactive operations, has been promoted to CEO of the North American unit. The announcement was made by MediaCom Worldwide CEO Stephen Allan. Goldhersz is replacing Doug Checkeris, who resigned his post to “pursue other interests.” Checkeris will remain with MediaCom during a transitional period before leaving the agency.

Since 2004 Goldhersz, who started at the agency 28 years ago, has been in the role of vice chairman, worldwide COO of MediaCom Worldwide. Among his chief responsibilities was serving as the global head of digital for the agency. He also managed disciplines such as business science, research, insight, data solutions, media optimization and strategic planning. As he takes on the CEO post at MediaCom NA, Goldhersz will retain his existing duties as well.
