Groupon Hires A CFO From Amazon

Groupon, which is expected to soon raise an additional round of funding and ultimately try to go public, has hired an (NSDQ: AMZN) executive who likely will oversee those efforts. Jason Child, who most recently was vice president of finance for’s international business, is joining the daily deals site as its first chief financial officer.

The hire comes as Groupon recently said no to a $6 billion acquisition offer from Google (NSDQ: GOOG). In a bit of a twist, Amazon itself has allied with Groupon arch rival LivingSocial; the company invested $175 million in the daily deals site earlier this month.
