Digital Artists, a digital studio represented by CAA, is bringing in some high-powered film talent: Former Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS) Studios production chief Oren Aviv and Killer Films principal Christine Vachon.
Aviv, who was ousted from Disney in January, will join DA’s board of directors as an advisor. He’ll apply lessons learned from putting together blockbuster films to the digital franchises DA has been trying to package, which have included talent like Morgan Spurlock, the Farrelly Brothers and YouTube (NSDQ: GOOG) talent Ryan Higa.
Vachon, a prominent figure on the independent-film circuit, will partner with DA through Killer Digital for a live video series she will personally host at the Sundance Film Festival focusing on indie-film and digital talent.
“Our new creative collaboration with Killer Digital elevates Digital Artists’ cinematic storytelling capabilities, and furthers our mission to partner with best-in-class talent to produce and distribute original digital entertainment for all screens,” says William Kendall, chief creative officer of Digital Artists. “The addition of Oren Aviv to our board brings key strategic insights and significant talent relationships to the fold, as we continue building a studio home where established and emerging artist-entrepreneurs can bring their original ideas to life.”
