O.K., so there’s been a whole lotta funding news today. Here’s something a bit lighter. This weekend at a holiday gift fair in San Francisco I bought an awesome t-shirt featuring rockstar Department of Energy’s Chief Steven Chu. Actually I bought like three of them.

The tees are courtesy of designer Martin Hsu, and you can buy your own here for $28. Because the DOE, led by Chu, has been majorly supporting the greentech industry over the past year. A good way to say thanks!

For those not familiar with Chu, he previously won the Nobel Prize in Physics, supports open collaboration in science, and also has a sense of humor.

  1. It took an owner operator to figure out a way to reduce the most drag on a tractor trailer, 1/10th of a MPG savings represents a million gallons a day on commercial vehicles.
The “AIR CHANNELER” is truly recognizable as the genuine and original ram air natural/passive base-bleed method for tractor trailers and is capable of saving 3-4 million gallons of fuel a day. Please check out our web- site
Base bleeding directly connects the high pressure air, wind resistance, on the front or sides of a vehicle thru an air channeling device into the most centrally located lowest pressure area or “sweet spot” on the aft or base of the vehicle
Studies strongly suggest that natural ventilation can provide significant total drag reduction provided the vent-flow is in close proximity of the separated shear layer boundary flows i.e. as close to the centrally located area on the base of the vehicle as possible.
