Meredith Buys Remaining Piece Of Real Girls Media Network

Meredith Corp. (NYSE: MDP) has acquired the remaining stake in the Real Girls Media Network. Financial terms weren’t released. The publisher of Ladies Home Journal and Better Homes and Gardens, had taken a minority stake in the RGMN in November ’09.

Two months later, the site network served as the launchpad for Meredith’s Women’s Online Network.

RGMN includes sites like, a general interest community for women with channels on food, relationships and style, among others. The addition of RGMN, which claims to average roughly 4- to 5 million monthly uniques, increases the reach of the Meredith Women’s Network to nearly 25 million monthly unique visitors, Meredith says, citing Omniture (NSDQ: OMTR) SiteCatalyst measurements (which tend to be lower than third party audience researchers like comScore).

The purchase follows a pattern Meredith had set with mobile marketing agency, The Hyperfactory, which the publisher invested in and ultimately purchased outright within the period of a year. Release
