With so much news today — including from Heroku, Rackspace, Zuora, NetApp and Engine Yard — it’s tough to know where to focus. The answer might be in two separate but related funding announcements, from Gluster and Zetta. Their combined $20 million says a lot about the demand for cloud storage, whether on-premise or actually in the cloud. The economics of cloud storage are too good to pass up for certain data types — it’s relatively inexpensive and instantly scalable. Oh, and don’t think large storage vendors, which have been on an M&A rampage lately, didn’t notice this news.
