Sean Finnegan is leaving his post as president and chief digital officer of Publicis Groupe’s Starcom MediaVest Group after two years, he announced this morning in his Facebook status. A spokesperson for SMG told AdAge, which first reported the news, that Finnegan’s decision to exit was “mutual.” No word where Finnegan is going to next, though he’s apparently leaning towards possible jobs on the client or product side.
It was unclear who SMG would tap to replace Finnegan, who’s mostly looking for some downtime after a hectic travel schedule. In his status update, Finnegan said he would stay on for a few weeks to aid in the transition.
Finnegan joined SMG in Sept. ’08, after a nine-month stint in the start-up world at in-text ad provider Vibrant Media. Before that, Finnegan had been CEO of Omnicom Group’s in-house interactive shop, OMG Digital.
