Where to Watch YouTube Play Tonight

YouTube’s (s GOOG) having a party to celebrate the artistic and experimental content submitted to its YouTube Play program, and if you’re not in New York, you can still peek in thanks to a live stream to be hosted at youtube.com/play.

Tonight beginning at 8 PM ET, live from the Guggenheim Museum (which co-sponsored the drive), the YouTube Play jury (which includes Darren Aronofsky, Laurie Anderson, Taakshi Murakami, and the band Animal Collective) will announce the top 25 submissions to the program.

Comedian Michael Showalter will host the evening — kinda a weird choice for an event with such a high art pedigree, but his work on the sketch comedy series Stella certainly had moments of surrealism.

Over a hundred videos made the short list, including OK Go’s Rube Goldberg-esque video for This Too Shall Pass and Kutiman’s inspired ThruYOU mash-up series.

OK Go and Kutiman will both attend the event, which the YouTube blog promises will be “a live streamed event featuring music, collaborations, eye-popping projections and, of course, the most creative video.”

YouTube’s Hunter Walk will be speaking at NewTeeVee Live on November 10. Tickets on sale now!
