Jay Penske’s Mail.com Media Corp, which has been buying up a storm this past year, is now making some big hires. Digital advertising vet Alyson Racer, who left her post at Newsweek following the magazine’s sale to Sidney Harman, has been named MMC’s first chief revenue officer. She starts next month. Racer was the first digital ad sales person at the NYTimes.com in 1997 and later worked at fashion and entertainment e-newsletter Daily Candy. She’s being joined at MMC by former NYTimes.com and Daily Candy colleague, Cathy Goepfert, who’s leaving her post as national sales director of Comcast (NSDQ: CMCSA) Entertainment.

Racer will be responsible for developing all ad sales and other revenue for MMC
