Online Study Helper StudyBlue Raises $3.65 Million

StudyBlue, a site designed to help college and high school students prepare for their classes, has raised $3.65 million in a new funding round. On StudyBlue, students can upload their class notes and make flash cards. They can then access the material online or via their mobile phones. The startup says its service is now used on more than 500 campuses across the country, up from 25 when it launched two years ago.

The funding brings StudyBlue’s total backing to more than $6.5 million. We previously profiled the company back in January, when it was in the process of raising a $1 million round.

The company prominently says it’s “absolutely free” on its hompe page, although access to some premium services in fact costs $9.99 per month, according to a listing elsewhere on its site. There are some more details in the release here.
