Involver, a company that has significantly changed its focus in the past two years, has raised $8 million to further pursue its direction as a social media marketer. The round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners, along with previous backers Western Technology Investment and Cervin Ventures. The San Francisco company offers to manage the social media profiles for brands and high profile personalities including Hearst and Alicia Keys; it even claims The White House as a client.
In 2008, when Involver raised $1.44 million, the three-year-old company was concentrating on positioning itself as a gateway for brands to use online video. But the explosion of social networking has offered even greater opportunities for marketers and Involver has shifted course by mostly offering of apps on Facebook. Release
