The third installment of Spiceworks’ “Voice of IT: State of SMB IT” report is out!
Based on responses from more than 3,000 Spiceworks users (also known as SpiceHeads) to a survey fielded in July and August, the report investigates technology purchasing, usage and staffing plans for the second half of 2010 among SMBs worldwide. And just what are SMB IT pros saying? Overall, planned IT spending is on the rise for the second half of the year. IT budgets are up an additional 4 percent from the first half of 2010.

Diving under the surface, reality is a bit more a “steady as she goes.” SMB IT pros say that, similar to the first half of 2010, the remainder of the year will be relatively conservative in nature. Overall, SMBs:
- are slowly but surely navigating the course back to “business as usual”
- continue to embrace a “use what you‘ve got” when comes to IT staffing
- plan to invest in technologies that deliver “the best bang for the IT buck”
Details and statistics about how they plan to achieve these goals can be found in the comprehensive report, which is available for free download.
While the end of 2010 seems to promise blue skies for a small percentage of IT professionals, the forecast for the masses continues as one of economic uncertainty that leaves them scanning the horizon for better times ahead. So set the mainsail, keep a watchful eye, and chart your course.
