General Catalyst’s Bell Takes Over As Jumptap CEO; Olschwang Stays On Board

Advertising Week kicks off in New York with a shakeup at mobile ad network Jumptap: Dan Olschwang is out as CEO, replaced by George Bell, a managing director at Jumptap lead investor General Catalyst. Bell, former CEO of Upromise and Excite, is taking an indefinite leave from General Catalyst to serve as CEO and board member; Olschwang stays on the board.

Bell’s stated mission is to “advance the company’s growing future as a platform agnostic mobile advertising network” but it’s worth noting he led Excite’s IPO. He’s really there to open the door to the right exit for a company that has raised $76 million since its 2004 founding and claims to have the largest independent premium ad net in North America.
