Video Ad Startup Innovid Raises $4 Million

Innovid

Innovid, a startup which helps advertisers make their pre-roll video ads interactive, has raised $4.1 million in a first round of funding led by Deutsche Telekom (NYSE: DT) VC arm T-Venture, which it will use in part to expand to Europe. The company’s “iRoll” platform adds interactive elements — like a store locator or a way to buy tickets — to an online video ad. The technology has been used by a number of big-name brands, including Disney (NYSE: DIS), Kraft, Charmin, and Infiniti (See examples here).

Innovid is describing the funding from T-Venture as a “strategic investment” and says it will be working closely with Deutsche Telekom to “shape the advertising models for emerging media platforms.”

The startup had previously raised $3 million in a seed round led by Genesis two-and-a-half years ago. Genesis also participated in this funding round.
