MySpace (NSDQ: NWS), which has overhauled its management in recent months, has a new head of entertainment and video: The company has appointed Andy Marcus, who has been SVP of business and legal affairs at the social network since 2006, as SVP of entertainment and video, we have confirmed. That role is increasingly important at MySpace, which has been trying to position itself more as an entertainment and content company.
The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the move, says that Marcus is working “to build a slate of original short-form programming for MySpace” and also to get more TV shows to use the site as a “casting tool.”
