Netvibes — a Paris-based company that provides personalized online dashboards for its users — today introduced a “VIP” program that should be useful for professional and business users of the service (like WWD writer Dawn Foster, who uses Netvibes to create monitoring dashboards for her clients).
The VIP program costs €29.90 ($38) per year, and offers “fastlane” support with guaranteed 24-hour turnaround, access to the “VIP zone” (early access to product betas and advance notification of new features), plus a goodies pack.
We can probably expect to see more web app vendors going down this route. Increasingly, what might be termed “consumer” web apps are being used by businesses. By providing access to features like guaranteed support and advance warning of any changes to the product, vendors can make their products more enterprise-friendly, while at the same time opening up additional revenue streams.
Would you pay for “fastlane” support?
